Who should I hire to find out what kind of work to do to finish the cabin my parents' unfinished registration?
My father started building a house in the 1980s. This is a story of 2 – log cabin kit with a basement. The main part of the structure kit is complete but never finished further internal work for the home fit to live, there are some electrical and plumbing work done, but items I know are outstanding floors, drywall, kitchen cabinets and counters, lighting. He finished the master bedroom and bath to enable them to pass the night there occasionally. What kind of professional would be best to hire for a complete list of items remaining to be done before the home can be considered finished and fit to live? My goal is to finish his dream house for my parents and help them move on because they are older and are unable to complete its own themselves. I do not know where to start.
Contact the home provider record (if still around at age 20?) And ask them to recommend some carpenters in your area. You want someone who understands the concept of household registration, as the house is installed differently from other construction and finishing details are handled differently. Kitchens installed to the outside (or any other record of the walls) offers a special challenge in the way they are anchored to the wall. If electricity and plumbing should be completed here, make sure you are satisfied with the approach and what the end result will be.
