Building a garage, and an apartment above. What do you guys think?
I want to build a three car garage with high ceilings, with a half bath downstairs and small kitchen, then above have a 2 bed, full bath, full kitchen apartment. The garage will be heated and air conditioned, and I want to put in a plasma tv, stereo, and built in surround sound system, with a couch. This way people can come over and hang out in the garage, and we can work on cars or just to watch games on the tv… What do you guys think about this? Have you ever thought about something like this, having a big garage to work in during all 4 seasons, and then just living above it? Or any suggestions to make this better?
And I’m a girl, but i really like working on cars, and my bf would most likely move in. I think it’d also be great for dance parties
Its a great idea, but if your building a extension on your garage you need to get planning permission from your state or council, if the deem it unsuitable then its pretty much illegal. Best to get clearance from your state / council first, then start working on that. They have to know what its being used for and can reject your idea, but its worth a try.
