the Fed must sell the U.S. POST OFFICE?
Private industry (Fed-Ex, etc) took over the mailing industry for 40 years and the country need a U.S. Post Office, but the U.S. "is that" many other things like health care or a string of U.S. television to remove the need for money to feed the corrupt lobbyists for those running for office. Whatcha think?
The U.S. does not need a postal service since the mail delivery should be free. But I also see the advantage of getting rid of it would reduce postal junk mail … at least I hope so. The disadvantage would be that the few companies …. FedEx, UPS, etc. are not really in competition with each other. As I said in other posts, with ten companies of all control over the auto industry or the cellular phone providers or cable competition is not. Right now the USPS is providing a service to all U.S. taxpayers at a reasonable pace. If the Postal Service is closed, only God knows what other companies charge us for their services. I believe that investment in health is a great idea. The U.S. government already owns the airwaves, but due to pressure, which gave enough away to big business at all stations. See Ralph Nader's book "Cutting Business Wellness "and read the awful truth for yourselves. A government-owned transmission channel WOULD reduce the need for lobbyists money, but also it would be ending Corporate Welfare. If there is money to be given to companies that would not need to pressure our politicians. The companies are doing enough money in your account. In fiscal 2006, were given 92 billion dollars in taxpayer money. Why? Why can not that money to health, to ensure Social Security investment in small business, investment in research and development of clean, renewable energy and break our dependence on oil abroad? Why these corporate giants that rests on the backs of workers, the American people?
